The Good:
- I am better at hand coordination. Working on the nuances of the drums
- I can coordinate my feet well - I try to always keep the hi-hat foot tapping a steady beat while I am playing. It is harder initially, but I can use it to keep time*.
- Getting more of a feel for the "groove" of a beat, which only means I can tell I am never in it.
- *I cannot keep time, though I am getting better at not initially rushing
- Struggling big time with quick right-foot technique. I can do doubles, and can play independently of my hands, but the 3-4 quick beats are impossible. I am currently working on "Night Flight" from Zeppelin, and it is a perfect example of his technique, with 1 kick, a pause, then 4 quick kicks in a row. I am really having a hard time with the quick stuff on the bass drum, but I am still plugging away on it.
- On that note - John Bonham's right foot technique can be summed up in one word - stupidly ridiculous.
