Visiting a Crazy Man

We went to "Bishop's Castle" the other day. Bishop's Castle is an actual castle, being built by a crazy man. The person building it is sort of an anti-government, live and let live type.

For instance, in one of his rants, (he tends to stand and have loud conversations with anyone walking by) he used the term "sovereign." That right there is a red flag. He also has several signs around the grounds that point out we really don't need a license or registration to drive across the US, that we have the right to do anything we want, etc.

To that end, he has obatined exactly 0 permits for this building, and has no plans to do so.

In any case, it is an impressive site.

My favorite exchange with him:

Me: "Where do you get all the rocks for this?"
Bishop: "Public Lands. And they can kiss my ass if they don't like it. It's our land."
Me: "Ahhh." Thinking to self, 'Where is the exit.'

Here are some pics:

Bishop's Castle

The inside

You are like 40 feet up at this point

This is not posed

I went in the globe structure at the top left of this

This thing is like 100 feet up, and it wobbles as you stand in it.

Zero Permits

You could write a book based on this picture.

The rock is from public land
